Kingdom Come Deliverance patch 1.03: Fix for unresponsive R2 attack button on some PS4 controllers incoming
Table of Contents
The latest 1.03 patch for Kingdom Come Deliverance is another big one, with users reporting that they need to download between 13-16GB of data. The patch will also look to fix a problem where the R2 slash attack button doesn’t work on some PS4 controllers.
Since its launch on Tuesday, Kingdom Come Deliverance has had more than 40GB worth of patches to download, including a 23GB day-one patch that not only tweaked, but added features to the game.
Daniel Vávra, creative director at Warhorse Studios, acknowledged the issues on Twitter, saying:
“Regarding the R2 issue - we are working on it, but it’s not [a] software issue.
“If you facing this issue, then it seems your button lost some of its sensitivity. We will fix it asap by changing the input pressure value. But it’s interesting that it’s only this one button for everyone.”
It seems like the cause of the problem is how hard a player needs to push the trigger to perform an attack. Currently, the input pressure value is set at 90%, but if you’ve got a well used PS4 controller - or don’t have strong fingers - you’re not able to exert the required pressure, meaning your character just does nothing.
How to fix R2 attack button not working in Kingdom Come Deliverance:
Before you’ve downloaded the patch, you can fix the problem by manually remapping the R2 button to something different in the main menu.
You do this by going into “Settings” on the main PS4 home menu, then “Accessibility”. Then you need to scroll down to “Button Assignments” and tick “Enable Custom Button Assignments”. When you've done that you’ll be able to change the R2 input to a different button - L2 for example - so every time you press that button, it’s as if you’re pressing R2.
Remapping the controls makes the input pressure value irrelevant, so you’ll be able to attack whatever state your controller is in.
Kingdom Come Deliverance Patch Notes 1.03
As for other changes, there aren’t any official patch notes yet. But the PS4 update history lists the changes as:
- Stealth and stealth kills adjusted
- People now get dirty more gradually
- Additional quest bugs fixed
- Various optimisations
Kingdom Come Deliverance offers something genuinely interesting and different in the RPG space, but definitely isn't straightforward. Simple tasks like getting a horse, or even finding a spade for a quest can be a confusing challenge.
However, with about 500,000 copies sold already, it seems like challenge many are willing to take on.
