Just three months after hitting Early Access on Steam, Daybreak Games has announced it's shutting the servers down on Planetside Arena. According to the official announcement, Planetside Arena's time in Early Access didn't draw enough players to "sustain the gameplay experience" the developers envisioned. Servers will be taken offline on January 10, and as of today, all currency purchases and DLC are no longer able to be obtained (thanks, Blue).

Two ex-Black Rock staffers have founded a new studio, Roundcube Entertainment, in the wake of dramatic lay-offs at the Disney-owned developer. GamesIndustry reports Nick Baynes and Ian Monaghan will serve as the new studio's head and development director respectively. The newly-formed company is yet to announce any projects. Only around 30 staff remain at Block Rock, which is based in Brighton, after an estimated 100 lay-offs. Its games include Split/Second and Pure.
