MLB: The Show will no longer live on as a PlayStation exclusive.

Sony and MLB have signed a contract extension that allows the former to continue having exclusive rights to the official game based on Major League Baseball.

This type of extension is common, but what's interesting this time around is that MLB: The Show series will, for the first time ever, be available on more platforms than just PlayStation. This will happen as early as 2021, according to the press release.

Although specific platforms weren't mentioned, they likely include Nintendo Switch, if not also PC and Xbox One. MLB: The Show is developed by Sony's own San Diego studio, and the series has only ever been an exclusive, unlike other sports games like FIFA, NBA, Madden and so on.

The next game in the series, MLB: The Show 20, launches in March on PS4.
