Tales of Arise is one of the best JRPGs in years

Over the weekend, I said something to a friend which sort of crystallized my thought process around Tales of Arise, the latest entry in the 26-year-old role-playing series from Namco. I said that if it were a Final Fantasy game, it’d probably have a sky-high critical reception and sell ten million copies. The declaration was hyperbolic, but as is often the case there’s a razor-sharp kernel of truth at the center of it.

Hearthstone: Boomsday Project guide - best decks, tier list, more

The best New World weapons and weapon skill trees

If you want the best New World weapons, you’re in luck because Amazon’s MMO offers a surprising degree of flexibility in weapon choices and how you wield them. That said, there are some weapons that perform better than others in most situations. The Hatchet, for example, is one of the best New World weapons in any situation, whether it's PvP or PvE, though others, including the Rapier, need a good secondary weapon to shine.

Mordhau: How to build a ballista and rain spiky death upon your enemies

The medieval mayhem of Mordhau isn’t just limited to swords, shields, and the occasional pike. As well as sticking your foes with the pointy end, you can show them the way to the afterlife with a variety of siege weaponry - most notably for infantry, a ballista. Mordhau is still an improving game, and has been plagued by issues since its recent launch on Steam. One of these problems is having more than a few opaque systems.

Valheim patch stops your infinite Greydwarf farms

Valheim received a big update that's going to put an end to some of your most nightmarish industrious designs. Valheim players recently devised a particularly brutal, way-too-efficient machination to farm Greydwarves, one of the game's enemies. The idea is to build fiery pits that trap Greydwarves as they spawn, infinitely farming them for their parts. It didn't take long for players to figure out that it's cheaper, and more efficient, to build and maintain these fires than going out and hunting the damn things normally.

PS4 trophy list pops up for Dark Souls developer's PS2 classic Eternal Ring

FromSoftware's PS2 title Eternal Ring might just be coming to PS4. Eternal Ring was a PS2 launch title from FromSoftware, and in case you were too young to remember that, or weren't even alive back then, you can check out some gameplay in John GodGames' video above. Now that we're all feeling suitably glum about the inexorable onslaught of Time against the flowers of our youth, we can cheer up at the thought of some quality nostalgia, as an Eternal Ring PS4 trophy list has popped up on Exophase suggesting that we'll see the game appear on PS4 sometime soon.

GTA 5 hits PS5 tomorrow... but I don't want to stop playing GTA: Chinatown Wars

Handing over a brick of heroin to a visibly paranoid dealer, I finalise the sale price using the DS stylus – and can’t help picturing a disapproving Shigeru Miyamoto. As the constantly smiling creator of Mario – the huggable godfather of gaming – Miyamoto seems endearingly innocent. Now, I’m using the device that brought us Nintendogs to push Class A drugs. Still, there are more pressing matters at hand. Finally agreeing to my price, the scruffy-looking junkie reluctantly hands over the cash.
